In these paintings, the compositions are developed from maps of locations that I have experienced in a meaningful and personal way. Working with Google Maps, the location/place is painted into an eccentric shape defined by surrounding streets. When traveling to these places in each painting, I meet a different artist in the form of a visual conversation—an homage— referencing their work, name, and the place in my composition and titles. This project is about the special nature of connection through a particular place, as known through visual experience.
